Mercyhurst Stats SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University softball team is set to host Mercyhurst in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader Wednesday.
First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from the SRU Softball Complex.

SCOUTING THE ROCKRecord: 12-13, 1-3 PSAC West
Last Five: 3-2
Overview: As a team, Slippery Rock is hitting .250, which ranks near the bottom of the conference at 15th. The SRU pitching staff combines for a 2.27 ERA, which ranks fifth among PSAC teams.
Tops Bats: Speedy senior
Megan Maloney leads SRU with a .342 average and nine stolen bases, while classmate
Katie Kaiser is on a seven-game hitting streak and leads the team in hits (16), triples (two), and home runs (four). Senior
Ashley Samluk has produced a team-high eight doubles and 16 RBI to round out SRU's top offensive performers.
Top Arms: Junior pitcher
Carly DeRose (5-4) posts an ERA of 1.35 this spring, which ranks fifth in the PSAC. She has struck out 55 batters in 14 appearances and nine starts. Sophomore pitcher
Brooke Dawson (4-6) has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the conference as well. Dawson, the reigning PSAC West Pitcher of the Week, has a 2.48 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 13 appearances and nine starts.
Head Coach: Stacey Rice is in her second year at the helm after serving three years as an assistant coach and two years as a graduate assistant with The Rock. Last season, she led SRU to a 15-23 record, just narrowly missing a spot in the PSAC Tournament. Before starting her coaching career at SRU, Rice was one of the most decorated players in program history. She holds the all-time records for runs scored, hits, doubles, total bases, walks and at-bats while ranking second all-time in home runs and RBIs.
Up Next: The Rock will hit the road next weekend for PSAC-West doubleheaders at Gannon and California (Pa.) before hosting Edinboro Sunday in a makeup series.

Overview: Mercyhurst is hitting .283 as a team, which pegs them at eighth in the PSAC; however, the Laker pitching staff has struggled early in the season, combining for a 4.62 ERA, which ranks 15th in the conference.
Tops Bats: Junior Rachel DiBartolomeo leads the Lakers with an impressive .422 batting average and posts team-highs in nearly every category: hits (27), doubles (seven), triples (one), home runs (four), RBI (20) and stolen bases (nine). Senior Courtney Brothers is hitting .383 with 23 hits on the year.
Top Arms: Four pitchers split time in the circle for the Lakers. Junior Anna Cochis (4-3) posts a 4.22 ERA and has struck out nine in eight appearances and six starts, while j
unior Portia McBride (1-2) has a 4.68 ERA and 16 strikeouts in six appearances and four starts.Head Coach: Leanne Baker is in her third season as head coach of Mercyhurst. Baker came to Mercyhurst from Southern Vermont College, where she was head coach of the Mountaineers for three seasons. She is a graduate of Edinboro, where she was an All-PSAC selection in 2006 and helped her team to the NCAA Tournament in 2007.
