SCOUTING THE ROCK
Last time out: Slippery Rock was unable to maintain a seven-point fourth-quarter lead as Malone University rallied late for a 71-69 win over Slippery Rock on Nov. 30.

• Slippery Rock is 5-3 in its last eight crossover games against teams from the PSAC East. The Rock went 4-2 in crossover games last season and split two contests earlier in the year with a loss at Shippensburg and a win against Kutztown. SRU will play two more crossover games this season Dec. 10 against Millersville and Jan. 14 at East Stroudsburg.

• SRU comes into Saturday's game against West Chester looking to snap a three-game losing streak. The Rock's previous two losses have come by a combined total of just seven points. Slippery Rock is becoming accustomed to playing in close contests as the final margin in five of its seven regular season games this season have been by nine points or less.

• Slippery Rock has made 105 free throws through seven games and is shooting 75.5 percent (105-of-139) from the foul line, both figures rank second in their respective categories in the PSAC. SRU has made 39 of its last 45 free throw attempts (86.7 percent).

• The Rock's reserves combined to score a season-high 33 points against Malone. C.C. Dixon led the way with 14 points followed by Cassidy Wright (a season-high nine points), Krista Pietropola (six) and Sierra Fordham (four).

• After a slow start to the season, Dixon is beginning to find her stride for The Rock by averaging 9.0 points and 6.3 rebounds a contest over SRU's last three games. For the year Dixon is shooting 58.6 percent from the field, which ranks second on the team behind only LeeAnn Gibson's 62.5 field goal percentage.

• With roughly the a quarter of the season already done Lexi Carpenter is averaging 15.7 points, 4.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Carpenter, who is the only player in the Atlantic Region to currently average at least 15 points, four assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block per game, is on pace to have 913 career points by the end of the season which would be the 14th most in Rock history.

Morgan Henderson is second on the team in both scoring and rebounding with respective per game averages of 9.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. Despite having an off night at Malone, Mallory Heinle is still SRU's top rebounder at 6.0 boards per game to with 7.4 points a contest.

• Pietropola is tied with Carpenter for the team lead in made 3-pointers with nine. On the year, she is averaging 5.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Pietropola has pulled in at least four rebounds in six of The Rock's seven games this season; only Henderson has had four or more rebounds in all seven games for SRU.

• Gibson has started two of her seven games played as a freshman and is averaging 7.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Reigning PSAC West Freshman of the Week Brooke Hinderliter is shooting 46.8 percent from the field and scoring 8.6 points per game over the first seven games of her career.

• Hinderliter and Gibson have already combined to start nine games this season. Over the last nine years the only two true freshmen to have combined for more starts in their first season at SRU were Bethany Caudill and Amanda Mikatavage who combined to start 30 games as true freshmen in 2009-10.

• Slippery Rock currently ranks eighth in the PSAC in scoring (68.0 ppg), but is 16th in points allowed per game (76.3).

• Carpenter and Pietropola combined for 17 points and four assists against West Chester last season with Pietropola also blocking a pair of shots in the win.

• Heinlie had one of the top statistical games of her Rock career last year against Cheyney, scoring a career-high 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds over 22 minutes. Pietropola also added eight points and six rebounds in the win over the Wolves.
