MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team remained perfect on Day 2 of the Pfeiffer University Tournament with two 3-0 sweeps against Johnson C. Smith and Pfeiffer to capture the season-opening tournament in North Carolina.

The Rock (4-0) started the second day of action with a 3-0 sweep of Johnson C. Smith (25-11, 25-13, 25-18).

Sophomore middle hitter Brooke Bostwick led SRU's offensive attack against the Golden Bulls with 11 kills.

Haley Defibaugh added 22 assists in the win.

Later in the day, sophomore outside hitter Leah Jones continued her impressive weekend with a team-high 18 kills against Pfeiffer (25-4, 25-15, 25-17). Jones led The Rock to two victories on Day 1 of the tournament with a combined 28 kills against UVa-Wise and Salem International.

Defibaugh had 24 assists for SRU against the Falcons, while Courtney Oberlander led the team in digs with nine.

The Rock will be back in action on Friday Sept. 11 at the Davis & Elkins Tournament when they take on UVa-Wise at 2:30 p.m. and Concord University at 7:30 p.m.
