Rock closes out homestand vs. IUP

On the heels of a dramatic victory against rival California (Pa.), Slippery Rock soccer looks to pick up its third consecutive PSAC victory when it hosts Indiana (Pa.) 3:30 p.m. Saturday at James Egli Field.

Slippery Rock leads the all-time series 16-14-2, but the Crimson Hawks has defeated The Rock in each of the last two meetings. Prior to 2013, Slippery Rock held a seven-game winning streak against Indiana.
 
LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock held advantages over the Crimson Hawks in nearly every statistical category, but IUP managed to escape with a 1-0 overtime victory at home Sept. 20, 2014 thanks to a goal by Brittney Kuhns.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
Last time out: Junior forward Dara Demich scored a goal with 34 seconds remaining in regulation to vault The Rock to a 2-1 win against California (Pa.) at Egli Field Sept. 15.
 
• As a team, Slippery Rock comes into the IUP contest in a three-way tie for first in the PSAC in goals per game with 2.80.
 
• Slippery Rock, which is outscoring opponents 14-5 on the year overall, has allowed just one goal in the second half of games this season.
 
• Junior forward Andrea Felix has already scored five goals and passed out one assist for a team-high 11 points on the season. Felix enters the weekend ranked third in the PSAC in goals and fourth in points.
 
• Felix has amassed 54 career points in her Rock career off of 20 goals and 14 assists. Her point total already ranks 14th in SRU history. She needs three more points to pass Lauren Steele for 13th place.
 
• After tallying one goals and one assist against the Vulcans, Demich now ranks second for SRU in goals with three and tied for first in assists with senior midfielder Caitlin Binder at two each. Binder is also the only other Rock player to score multiple goals on the season with two.
 
• Freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Elrod has played every minute this season and is 3-2 with a 1.00 goals against average and a .704 save percentage.
 
• After earning shutout victories against the Crimson Hawks from 2009-12, Slippery Rock has been unable to score a goal in its last two games against IUP.
 
• Saturday's game concludes The Rock's season-long five-game homestand.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS
Last time out: Sophomore Brandie Bryant scored a late-first half goal, but No.8 Gannon was too much for IUP in a 3-1 defeat at South Campus Field Sept. 15.
 
• Kiersten Zerbe and Lexie Palluconi have been the central figures of the Indiana offense through the opening stages of the season. Of IUP's 12 goals, Zerbe (five) and Palluconi (four) have accounted for nine scores.
 
• Jessica Printz has started all five games, and played every minute for IUP. She has .667 save percentage and a 2.27 goals against average.
 
• Erica Boyle has passed out a team-high three assists.
 
• Indiana ranks a respectable fifth in the PSAC in goals scored (12), but 14th in goals allowed (12).
