New/Sortable Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team improved to 6-0 with two wins on the first day of the Davis & Elkins Tournament Friday night in West Virginia.
The Rock opened the day with a 3-2 (31-29, 25-23, 27-29, 20-25, 15-8) win against UVa-Wise, before securing a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 26-24) victory against Concord later in the evening.
Slippery Rock held advantages among the two matches in kills,107-92, and service aces, 16-4, but was edged 142-134 in digs

Leah Jones led The Rock with 24 kills and 19 digs, while j
unior Jaden Zimmer and sophomore Lamija Alisic had 12 and 11 kills, respectfully. Sophomore
Haley Defibaugh led the passing game with 50 assists, whlie recording 14 digs. Sophomore
Courtney Oberlander also contributed 18 digs.
Jones also led the squad against Concord (0-6) with 19 kills. Defibaugh had 41 assists, while Oberlander picked up 17 digs. Alisic had nine kills and 11 digs in the win. Sophomore
Kristen C. Smith picked up five service aces between the two matches.
The Rock looks to earn two more wins Saturday against the University of Southern Indiana (11:30 a.m.) and host Davis & Elkins College (4:30 p.m.).
