SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team battled Shippensburg University to a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition at James Egli Field.

Goalkeeper
Annabelle Hegeman led a stellar SRU (0-1-1, 0-1-1 PSAC) defensive effort with a career-high 11 saves on the way to her third collegiate shutout.

Sam Thornton was a constant presence on the Slippery Rock attack with five shots on goal.
Ali Brosky added two shots on goal as well while
Andrea Felix,
Tess Keeley and
Dara Demich each finished the afternoon with one shot on target.

After a back-and-forth first half Slippery Rock controlled possession for the majority of the second period and finished the half by doubling Shippensburg (0-1-1, 0-1-1 PSAC) in total shots, 10-5. However, SRU was unable to find the back of the net and the game headed into overtime.

SU posted five shots throughout both overtime periods, but only managed to put two on goal including a ball by Kaila Dautrich which was quickly blocked by Hegeman in the game's final seconds to preserve the tie.

Shippensburg was led by goalie Kayla Kennedy, who made 10 saves. The Red Raiders held a slight advantage over Slippery Rock in both total shots (18-17) and shots on goal (11-10).

Slippery Rock next travels to California (Pa.) in what will be a rematch of last year's NCAA Atlantic Regional final on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
