Slippery Rock (0-1, 0-1 PSAC), which entered the match ranked seventh in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and Millersville (1-0, 1-0 PSAC) played even through the opening 45 minutes of action. However, a pair of Marauder goals midway through the second half proved to be too much for The Rock to overcome.

Annabelle Hegeman played all 90 minutes in goal for Slippery Rock, finishing the contest with a match-high eight saves.

Millersville broke the 0-0 tie in the 60
th minute when Halie Parker managed to put in a deflected ball past Hegeman. The Marauders added an insurance goal at 72:37 after Hannah Willett converted a free kick from 18 yards out en route to the victory.
The Rock had a final chance to score, but a shot by sophomoreÂ
Dara Demich in the 83rd minute sailed high.
 As a team, Slippery Rock held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. Millersville edged SRU in total shots, 15-9.

MU goalie Olivia Webber recorded her first shutout of the season with four saves.

Slippery Rock will look to bounce back from the defeat when it hosts Shippensburg University at 1 p.m. Saturday at James Egli Field.Â
