SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Andrea Felix scored two goals and assisted on another as the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team cruised to a 4-1 victory against Davis & Elkins College Saturday afternoon at James Egli Field.

The non-conference victory improves The Rock's record to 2-1-1 overall. The win is SRU's second consecutive triumph. The loss drops Davis & Elkins' record to 0-1-2 on the season.

Felix's two-goal performance was the second multi-goal outing of the 2013 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year's career. In addition to her goal and assist totals Felix, who now ranks 24th in Rock history in goals scored, finished the game with a team-high seven shots. Five of the attempts were on target.

Joining Felix in SRU's goal parade was Ali Brosky and Leslie Henny. Their second-half scores were the first goals of the season for both seniors. Dara Demich and Caitlin Binder also peppered the Davis & Elkins goal with four and three shots, respectively.

Goalkeeper Annabelle Hegeman earned the win after stopping two shots and allowing one goal. Hegeman exits the weekend with a .880 save percentage through four games in 2014.

As a team, Slippery Rock held advantages over the Senators in total shots (23-6), shots on goal (13-3) and corner kicks (6-2).

In what was an all-around dominating performance, The Rock controlled the contest from start to finish beginning with Felix's first goal of the day in the ninth minute when she put in a deflection past Davis & Elkins goalkeeper Ashley Winkelspecht. The Senators were able to tie the game at 19:40 on Jordyn Kemp's first goal of the season. However, the tie would be short lived as Felix put The Rock on top for good when she corralled a beautiful long pass from Haley Burkholder to slip another shot by Winkelspecht in the 28th minute of action.

Coming out of intermission, Slippery Rock's aggressive attack was once again rewarded five minutes into the second half when Brosky took a direct pass from Felix on the right side of the box before proceeding to send in The Rock's third goal of the afternoon.

SRU added a final insurance goal with nine minutes remaining in regulation when Henny rebounded and scored off of a shot from Brosky that hit the crossbar.

Slippery Rock has now won 15 of its last 19 matches at Egli Field.

Saturday's win was the 241st win in the career of head coach Noreen Herlihy. She now needs nine more victories to become just the 11th head coach in NCAA Division II women's soccer history to eclipse the 250-win plateau.

Winkelspecht stopped nine shots for Davis & Elkins in the defeat. Maggie Fry and Kaitlyn Buoni both tallied two shots each.

Slippery Rock returns to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play when it hosts Clarion University Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
