Morgan Elliott and David Reinhardt each recorded NCAA provisional qualifying marks Friday night at Allegheny.

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team recorded two NCAA provisional qualifying marks Friday evening at the Allegheny Gator Invitational.

Morgan Elliott led the way with a second place finish in the 1,500-meter with his second fastest time ever at 3:51.54. Elliott ran slightly faster earlier this year and looks poised to qualify for a trip to the National Championships based on the merit of that performance. As of Friday night, Elliott was 19th on the Division II leaderboard.

The second provisional mark from The Rock men Friday night came from David Reinhardt with a fourth place finish in the discus and a throw of 49.30 meters. His throw won't land him a spot in the national meet, but Reinhardt is a virtual lock to qualify for the national meet in the javelin.

Reinhardt also recorded a top five effort in the hammer throw with a fifth place finish and a throw of 50.96 meters.

Elliott was joined in the 1,500-meter run by Tyler Melius, who placed fifth with a personal best 3:56.51.

Slippery Rock got a runner-up finish in the shot put from Trevor Miller with a toss of 15.91 meters, just shy of the NCAA provisional mark of 16.00 meters.

Trevor Foley took third in the 400-meter hurdles in 54.49 seconds. He was followed by Nathaniel Helfferich in seventh at 56.29 meters.

The remaining top marks from The Rock men Friday came in the pole vault, where Cody Colagrande took third with a clearance of 4.70 meters and Jordan Pacheco finished sixth at 4.55 meters.

Friday night marked the end of the season for most of Slippery Rock's men. Select athletes that have reached at least the NCAA provisional qualifying mark will find out next week if they have been accepted to compete at nationals.
