Final ResultsSLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team won the SRU Open Thursday evening and recorded 24 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying performances and two NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the process.
The Rock ran away with the team title with a final score of 205.5 points. John Carroll University took second with 117 points. Seton Hill was third with 88.5 points, followed by West Liberty with 62 points and Ediboro rounding out the top five with 50.5 points.
Jordan Pacheco recorded the first NCAA provisional mark of the meet with his win in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.80 meters. He led a top four sweep by SRU athletes in the event.
Cody Colagrande was second at 4.65 meters.
Samuel Shipley was third at 4.50 meters and
Keiffer Reed was fourth at 4.35 meters.
Tyler Kachelries recorded the second provisional mark of the meet with a season-best throw of 63.08 meters to win the javelin. He was joined in reaching at least the PSAC mark in the event by
David Reinhardt, who took third with a toss of 57.51 meters.
The Rock's throwers had an outstanding showing with five athletes hitting the conference standard in the hammer.
Billy Martin led the way with a first place finish and a throw of 52.85 meters. SRU swept the top two spots with Reinhardt taking second with a toss of 51.55 meters.
Nick Garuccio was fourth at 49.21 meters,
Trevor Miller was seventh at 49.05 meters and
Nick Turk was eighth at 47.72 meters.
Miller picked up a win in the shot put to lead a 1-2-3 sweep for Slippery Rock with a throw of 15.42 meters.
Kaleb Kingston was second at 14.37 meters and Reinhardt was third at 13.81 meters.
Reinhardt won the discus with a throw of 45.26 meters and
Andrew Greenslade also hit the PSAC mark with a ninth place finish and a toss of 41.30 meters.
Victor Santoyo led the jumpers with a win in the triple jump with a PSAC qualifying leap of 13.94 meters.
Santoyo and
Hans Lubich each recorded a PSAC mark in the high jump. Santoyo finished third with a clearance of 1.95 meters and Lubich was fourth at 1.90 meters.
Slippery Rock picked up wins in three individual track events and one relay.
Hunter Williams won the 400-meter dash in 49.10 seconds.
Ryan Thompson became just the 12th athlete in the PSAC to hit the conference qualifying standard in the 800-meter run when he won the event in 1:57.00.
Trevor Foley and
Nathaniel Helfferich swept the top two places in the 400-meter hurdles. Foley won in 55.00 seconds and Helfferich followed in 55.13 seconds.
Lubich also picked up a PSAC qualifying mark in the 100-meter dash, placing sixth in 11.01 seconds.

Thursday's meet marked the final home meet of the season for Slippery Rock, which will continue its schedule next weekend at Ashland University in Ohio.
