Foley, Kachelries lead Rock men at George Mason

Trevor Foley and Tyler Kachelries reached NCAA provisional qualifying standards to lead the Slippery Rock men's track and field team at George Mason.

FAIRFAX, Va.  – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team recorded 15 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and two NCAA provisional qualifying marks Saturday at the George Mason Spring Invitational.
 
Only The Rock's field event athletes and sprinters attended the meet at George Mason, while the distance runners competed at Bucknell.
 
Trevor Foley led the Slippery Rock effort at George Mason with an NCAA provisional qualifying performance in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished eighth overall in a season-best time of 54.00 seconds to lead three SRU hurdlers to at least a PSAC qualifying time in the event.
 
Nathaniel Helfferich placed 19th in 55.24 seconds and Logan Mooney was 32nd in 56.45 seconds.
 
Foley also teamed with Helfferich, Hunter Williams and Hans Lubich to place sixth overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a season-best time of 3:20.42.
 
Tyler Kachelries led the field event athletes with an NCAA provisional throw in the javelin of 58.17 meters, good enough for fourth place. Max Knight also hit the PSAC standard in the event to place sixth at 54.59 meters.
 
Victor Santoyo recorded the PSAC standard in both the high jump and the triple jump to lead the jumpers. He cleared 1.94 meters to place eighth in the high jump and leaped 13.29 meters to take 11th in the triple jump.
 
Three pole vaulters reached the PSAC standard, led by Cody Colagrande with an 11th place finish and a clearance of 4.50 meters. Keiffer Reed and Samuel Shipley placed 13th and 15, respectively, with clearances of 4.35 meters.
 
David Reinhardt led three SRU throwers to a PSAC mark in the hammer throw with a seventh place finish and a toss of 48.27 meters. Billy Martin was 10th at 45.67 meters and Trevor Miller was 11th at 45.46 meters.
 
Miller also hit the PSAC standard in the shot put with an eighth place finish and a throw of 14.90 meters. He was joined in the event by Kaleb Kingston, who placed 12th at 14.11 meters.
 
Slippery Rock's entire team will be back together next week when it hosts the second home meet of the season with the SRU Open Thursday (April 17) at the Bill Lennox Track. Competition is scheduled to begin at noon in the field events and 2:30 p.m. on the track.
