ResultsRALEIGH, N.C. – The Slippery Rock University men's outdoor track and field team recorded seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks Friday on the first day of competition at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University.
The Rock's top performances of the day came from its distance runners with four athletes hitting the PSAC standard in their respective events.
Morgan Elliott led the way with his best performance since the fall cross country season. He took second overall among all athletes in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:54.34, just missing the NCAA provisional mark of 3:53.00. He was joined in the 1,500m by
Tyler Melius, who placed 12th overall with a PSAC time of 3:57.10.
Theodore Reynolds got the day started with his PSAC qualifying run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the early morning. He took fifth in his heat with a time of 9:47.21.
Alex Koksal followed that with a PSAC qualifying performance in the 5,000-meter run, placing 23rd in 15:22.98.
The only other track athlete to hit a PSAC mark for The Rock men Friday was
Hunter Williams in the 400-meter dash. He posted a time of 48.75 seconds to place 22nd among all athletes.
The other two PSAC marks for Slippery Rock Friday came in the throws.
Trevor Miller placed 17th overall in the shot put with a throw of 15.04 meters and
David Reinhardt was 28th overall in the discus with a throw of 43.66 meters.
Slippery Rock will wrap up competition at the Raleigh Relays Saturday, where events will begin at 9 a.m.
