SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Former Slippery Rock University women's soccer standout Danielle Turner has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the Everton Ladies Football Club through the 2016 season, the team announced recently.

Turner played for The Rock during the 2010 season and was a key fixture on a squad that went 14-3-5 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Turner started 21 of 22 games played for SRU and finished third on the team with 16 points after scoring five goals and assisting on six others. Two of her three game-winning goals came in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament against Bloomsburg and in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against West Virginia Wesleyan.

"When Danni came to The Rock, I could tell right away she had such potential," Slippery Rock head coach Noreen Herlihy said. "She was eager to improve everyday in training and truly had an immense passion for the game. She was a silky winger who had a willingness to run at the opposition using pace and trickery to create opportunities for herself and teammates, and most of all, she was such a down to earth person."

After missing all of 2013 due to injury Turner made her debut for Everton, which competes in The Football Association Women's Super League, the highest league of women's soccer in England, in 2014. She appeared in 21 matches for Everton, making 20 starts and scoring one goal.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new two-year contract," Turner said in a statement released by Everton. "I think last year I was just finding my feet in the league but this year I really want to put myself out there as a key player.

"I think my aim has to be keeping the consistency in my game," she added. "I thought I did well last year; I was pleased with my first year in the WSL. I want to keep that consistency this year."

Turner also currently competes on the international stage for England's U-23 women's team. She was called up to the team after excelling in the past as a member of both England's U-17 and U-19 rosters.

While at Slippery Rock, she earned second team all-region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as well as second team All-PSAC accolades in her lone season at SRU.

The Slippery Rock women's soccer program has recorded 19 consecutive winning seasons, 17 straight years with at least 10 wins and seven NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 10 years including three appearances in the national quarterfinals.
