THE OPENING TIP
Wednesday's contest marks the fifth game in Slippery Rock's season-long seven-game homestand that will conclude with back-to-back games against Millersville and Shippensburg Dec. 16-17.

Slippery Rock has now won at least four of its first six games to start a year for the 17th time in program history, but the first time since the 2007-08 season.

Slippery Rock's three-game winning streak is the longest by a Rock team since the 2011-12 squad won back-to-back-to-back games against Charleston (12/9/11), Notre Dame (12/28/11) and Cheyney (1/6/12).

The Rock will host a "Green Out" Wednesday. All fans are encouraged to wear green to the games and multiple promotions will take place throughout the evening.

REVIEWING THE WINNING STREAK
Slippery Rock has improved its record to 4-2 and achieved its longest winning streak in the last four years with three wins over the last nine days.

The Rock first defeated Penn State Allegheny 65-24 on Nov. 24. SRU set single-game school records for points allowed and field goal percentage defense (12.9 percent) while junior guard Taylor Siggers scored a personal-best 21 points.

SRU went on to defeat Penn State Fayette 81-51 on Nov. 25 behind a career-high 24 points from senior guard Bridget McClure, who made eight three-pointers which was one shy of the SRU single-game record.

Senior forward D'Asia Chambers then made sure The Rock's final non-conference game of the year was a success by going for 29 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and four steals in a 98-71 win against Penn State Beaver on Nov. 29.

AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
Slippery Rock begins the week slotted among the top teams in NCAA Division II in several categories. Through six games, Slippery Rock ranks 13th in the nation in steals per game (13.0), 18th in field goal percentage defense (.321), 21st opponent points per game (54.8) and 32nd in blocks per game (4.7).

Individually, Chambers is ninth in the country in double-doubles (four) and 21st in rebounds per game (11.7). Junior guard Erica Aiello's 3.0 steals per game rank 34th in all of Division II.

BENCH HELP
Reserves junior guard Breanna Gross and freshman guard Shannon Jack are coming off of their best efforts to date in Rock uniforms.

Against PSU Beaver, Gross went 6-for-8 from the field with two three-pointers and a trio of foul shots to score 17 points in addition to five rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Jack logged 16 minutes of playing time on the way to a 12-point performance.

RECORD WATCH
After grabbing 15 rebounds against Penn State Beaver, Chambers moved into 11th place in Slippery Rock history for rebounds in a career with 535. She needs six rebounds to take over 10th place from former Rock great Jodi Kest.

Chambers also needs 53 points to become the 14th 1,000-point scorer at Slippery Rock. She already ranks 10th in career blocks (44) and 11th in career steals (97).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
6 - number of blocked shots that freshman forward Mallory Heinle has, the most for Slippery Rock and the sixth highest total in the PSAC. Heinle has also scored 16 points in SRU's last two games after scoring just two in the previous two contests.

8 - number of consecutive games that Aiello has made at least two steals in dating back to last season.

5 - number of blocks on the year by junior forward Sorriyah Ranger.

4.2 - Rebounds per game average by Heinle and junior forward Megan Hardiman, tied for second on the team behind Chambers.

SCOUTING EDINBORO
Edinboro was picked to win the PSAC-West by the league's coaches in their preseason poll. The Fighting Scots enter Morrow Field House at 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC-West on the year. Edinboro won its first three games of the year, but have lost its last two games.

Though five games, Edinboro ranks 16th in the PSAC in scoring at 63.6 ppg and 13th in field goal percentage at .396. Individually, Laurel Lindsay has been the Fighting Scots' most consistent player with per game averages of 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.4 assists. Hope Mancini is tied with Lindsay for the team in lead in scoring while Aignee' Freeland is EU's top rebounder with 8.4 rpg.

SLIPPERY ROCK - EDINBORO SERIES HISTORY
Slippery Rock leads the all-time series against Edinboro 41-40 in what is Slippery Rock's oldest rivalry. However, the Fighting Scots have won the past nine games of the series with the last Slippery Rock win coming at home on Jan. 17, 2009 when Sasha Sales scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead The Rock to an 82-64 triumph. Nikki Presto added 17 points and 12 assists for SRU in the win as well.

A SLIPPERY ROCK WIN WOULD....
give Slippery Rock its longest winning streak since The Rock won four straight games to start the 2007-08 season.

snap the Fighting Scots' nine-game winning streak against SRU which began during the 2009-10 season.

UP NEXT
