SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team hosts Bloomsburg in Corners for Cancer Wednesday. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference clash is set to begin at 4 p.m. from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Corners for Cancer:Â All funds raised will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. Fans can pledge a certain amount of money per corner attempt or designate a flat donation if they do not wish to partake in the pledge per corner program.

Records: Slippery Rock entering Wednesday's contest at 7-6 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC. The Rock has won three in a row and four of its last six matches, including a 2-0 shutout of Kutztown Saturday.

Bloomsburg enters the matchup at 4-7 overall and 2-6 in league play. The Huskies have been challenged with a tough schedule, with four of its seven losses coming to ranked opponents. Bloomsburg defeated Bellarmine 2-0 in its most recent action Saturday.

All-Time Series: Bloomsburg owns an impressive 38-2 advantage in the all-time series against Slippery Rock dating back to 1983. The Rock and Huskies split a pair of decisions last season, as SRU earned a 3-2 win at home (

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock has posted advantages in goals scored (19-18) and total shots (148-131), despite opponents holding the edge in penalty corners (114-105) through 13 games. SRU ranks 8th in the PSAC with a 1.46 scoring average and has limited opponents to a 1.38 goals against average, good for 4th in the conference and 8th nationally.

Kelsey Gustafson leads the team with five goals and an assist, while
Megan McKay has notched a goal and a team-best five assists to pace the offensive attack for The Rock.
Michelle Couch and
Allison Shade have each tallied two goals and a pair of assists.
Kailee Krupski has recorded three goals, while
Anna Swearingen rounds out the top point scorers with two goals and an assist.
Baylee Childress ranks 3rd in the NCAA with six defensive saves and anchors a strong defensive unit along with Gustafson, whose four defensive saves rank 2nd in the PSAC and 8th nationally.
Kayla Mack adds three defensive saves to round out the stout defensive line.

Carlee DuMars has played every minute in goal and is 7-6 with a 1.33 goals against average and 0.783 save percentage. She has made 65 saves and allowed 18 goals in just under 950 minutes of action. DuMars ranks 3rd in the PSAC in total saves and 4th in goals against average and save percentage.

Scouting the Huskies: Bloomsburg has posted advantages in goals scored (27-22) and total shots (136-109), while opponents hold the edge in penalty corners (112-83) through 11 games. The Huskies rank 5th in the PSAC with a 2.46 scoring average and has limited opponents to a 2.00 goals against average, good for 5th in the conference.

Candice Smith leads the team in points with three goals and three assists, while Whitney Kowski and Gina Monahan add four goals apiece. Felicia Domenici adds three goals and two assists, followed by Stephanie Halsted with two goals and two assists. Nikki Gattone adds three goals, while Laura Gerhard, Peyton Shockley and Meagen Hill add multiple goals to round out the top offensive performers for Bloomsburg.

Lindsay Cassell has started nine games in goal and is 4-5 with a 1.43 goals against average and 0.769 save percentage. She has made 40 saves and allowed 12 goals in just under 590 minutes of action. Cassell ranks 4th in the PSAC in goals against average, 7th in save percentage and 9th in total saves.

Head Coaches: Julie Swiney, the 2012 PSAC-West Coach of the Year, enters her fifth season at the helm for Slippery Rock. She has led The Rock to four consecutive six-win seasons since 2010, including the fourth best record in school history with eight wins in 2012. After not reaching the PSAC playoffs since 1987, Swiney led The Rock to its first playoff berth in 2011 and again in 2012. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Swiney served as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter in field hockey for the Tribe. She led the Tribe to a Top-20 national ranking in each of her three seasons and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
Nikki Rhoads begins her fifth season as the head coach of field hockey in 2014. Rhoads came to Bloomsburg after spending six years at Alvernia University, including the last two as head coach.  Her career record stands at 87-32 in five years of coaching, and 65-16 in four years at Bloomsburg. In 2011, Rhoads guided the Huskies to a 19-1 record and their fourth straight PSAC Championship. The Huskies also made their 10th consecutive NCAA Semifinal appearance.  Rhoads is a 2004 graduate of Bloomsburg. She helped the team to two NCAA championships and two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference titles. The Huskies compiled a record of 73-8 during her time as a player. She was a three-time All-American and three-time All-PSAC selection. Rhoads is currently tied for 10th all-time in Bloomsburg history with 45 career goals, 11th in assists with 24 and ninth in career points with 114.
