Corners for Cancer FormSLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team will host a Corners for Cancer event in conjunction with its Oct. 22 game against No. 10 Bloomsburg. All funds raised will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference showdown is set to begin at 4 p.m. from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The 2014 season marks the third consecutive season in which The Rock has participated in the breast cancer initiative. The SRU field hockey team has raised $2,540 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation in the past two seasons.

Members of the team will be taking pledges now through game day per corner. Fans can pledge a certain amount of money per corner attempt or designate a flat donation if they do not wish to partake in the pledge per corner program.

All donations are due Friday, Oct. 31. Checks should be made payable to "The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation" for all donations.

The Rock is currently averaging 8 corners per game.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game to show support for breast cancer survivors and in memory of those that have lost the fight with breast cancer.
