ERIE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team (8-9, 3-1) swept West Chester (8-3, 0-3) and Cheyney (2-9, 0-4) on the second day of its PSAC crossover Saturday.
The Rock swept West Chester in three sets, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-22.
Kristy Lake and
Michelle Hren had nine kills apiece, while
Caroline Houston and
Kayla Byler each had eight kills to lead the offensive attack for Slippery Rock.
Lauren Rojek led the team with 20 digs and
Janna Reilly contributed 21 assists and 11 digs.
Kayla Woo added three service aces in the win.
Slippery Rock continued its strong play in the second game, sweeping Cheyney in three sets, 25-18, 25-12 and 25-12.
Leah Jones registered 11 kills, four service aces and 13 digs, while Rojek had 8 kills.
Anna Mease recorded a team-high 14 digs,
Amanda Michels tallied three blocks and
Nicole Fortuna totaled 20 assists in the win.
Slippery Rock returns home Friday, Oct. 4, for PSAC action against Mercyhurst. The game will be the first of five straight contests in Morrow Field House for The Rock. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
