SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will travel to Davis & Elkins Saturday for its only non-conference game of the 2013 season. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
Records: Slippery Rock enters Saturday's game with an overall record of 2-1-1 and is coming off a 2-1 win at Edinboro Wednesday night.
Davis & Elkins enters the game with an overall record of 1-4 and is coming off its first win of the season, a 3-0 victory over Ohio Valley, Thursday.
Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is outshooting the opposition 50-32 and is outscoring opponents 5-4.
Freshmen have recorded four of The Rock's five goals, with
Andrea Felix netting three goals and one assist to lead the team in scoring.
Dara Demich has added one goal and one assist to rank second in scoring.
Lauren Impey has one goal and
Sam Thornton and
Allison Harbart each have one assist to cap the point scorers.
Scouting the Senators: Davis & Elkins is being outscored 8-4 and outshot 72-45 by opponents.
The Senators are led by Allison Bogar with two goals, while Maggie Fry and Laia Margenat Dordas each have one goal to cap the goal scorers. Taylor Morton has the only assist on the team to cap the point scorers.
Goalkeepers: All-Region keeper
Dana O'Neill has played every minute in goal for SRU and is 2-1-1 with a 0.95 goals against average and a .692 save percentage.
Ashley Winkelspecht has started three games in goal for the Senators and is 0-4 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .733 save percentage. Courtney Postma earned a shutout with five saves in the win over Ohio Valey.
Head Coaches: Noreen Herlihy, the reigning PSAC and Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, is in her 19th season at the helm of the Slippery Rock program. She has led the team to 17 consecutive winning seasons and owns a career record of 226-104-28. The 17 straight winning seasons include 15 consecutive with at least 10 wins and ranks as the eighth-best streak in Division II history.
Raul Ovalle is in his fifth season as the head coach at Davis & Elkins. He took over the program after serving as an assistant coach for four seasons.
Series: Saturday's game will be the first meeting between the two programs.
PSAC Gets Deeper: With the addition of Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown to the PSAC this year, the league now has 17 women's soccer teams, meaning nearly every game on the 2013 schedule will count in the PSAC standings.
