EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 2-1 win on the road at Edinboro Wednesday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves its overall and PSAC records to 2-1-1. Edinboro falls to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in PSAC games.

Wednesday's game was a rematch of the opening round of the NCAA Tournament from last fall in which the teams played to a draw after two overtimes before Slippery Rock advanced to the second round with an edge in the penalty kick shootout.

The Rock jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game with goals in the 17th and 18th minutes and held on after Edinboro got on the board in the 54th minute.

Freshman standout Andrea Felix continued her impressive start to her collegiate career when she opened the game's scoring with a breakaway goal in the 17th minute.

The Rock added to the lead just 1:08 later when Lauren Impey headed in a corner kick off the foot of Allison Harbart to make it 2-0.

Edinboro got on the board in the 54th minute when Liz Debo scored off an assist from Lauralee Clements, but the Slippery Rock defense and keeper Dana O'Neill shut the door from there to preserve the win.

The Rock finished the game with advantages of 12-10 in total shots, 5-4 in shots on goal and 5-2 in corner kicks.

O'Neill made three saves in earning her second win of the year, while her counterpart, Meghan Kelly also made three saves in the losing effort.

Slippery Rock has played all PSAC matches to open the season after the league expanded with the addition of Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown. The Rock will play its only non-conference regular season game Saturday when they travel to Davis & Elkins College for a 2 p.m. game.
