SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team fell 0-3 in its final match of the Shepherd Tournament to Shepherd University Saturday afternoon.

The host Rams outlasted The Rock in the first set 26-24, before taking the next two sets 25-20 and 25-23 to preserve the win.

Sarah Beals led The Rock with eight kills, a .429 kill percentage and one service ace. Caroline Houston tallied nine kills and Kayla Woo added 11 digs. Janna Reilly recorded 15 assists and a service ace, while Alexandra Fleagle tacked on 11 assists of her own. Kristy Lake and Kristen Smith added six kills apiece.

Slippery Rock drops to 4-3 with the loss, while Shepherd improves to 3-3.

The Rock returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 17 for their home opener and Spike Against Stigma event against Alderson-Broaddus at Morrow Field House. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
