SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Emily Lobdell was 3-for-4 at the plate and pitched a complete game Saturday afternoon to lead hosting Slippery Rock University to a 6-1 win over Edinboro University in the second game of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader.
The win, which improved SRU's season records to 14-16 overall and 4-6 in PSAC-West action, gave The Rock a split in the twinbill. Edinboro (7-18, 4-6 PSAC-W) won Game 1 by a 6-0 score.
The Rock and Fighting Scots are scheduled to close out their four-game weekend and season series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday in Edinboro.
Lobdell struck out five, walked one and allowed one earned run on three hits to improve her season record to 5-4.
Offensively, Lobdell shared the spotlight with
Katie Saluga and
Breanna Tongel, each of whom had a pair of hits, including a home run.
Saluga led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run, her eighth roundtripper of the season. Tongel added her third circuit clout of the season, a two-run shot, later in that same inning.
The Rock collected 10 hits in Saturday's second game after having only four hits in Game 1. Saluga doubled for SRU's only extra-base hit in the opening game.
Ashley Knight (9-11) was tagged with the loss after he allowed all six Edinboro runs, only two of which were earned, on six hits while striking out one and walking four in the first six and two-thirds innings.
