CLERMONT, FLA. – The Slippery Rock University softball struggled on day two of its spring break trip with two losses to the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Rock was defeated 7-3 in the first game and dropped a 3-1 decision in game two.

Slippery Rock opened the Florida trip with a sweep over Queens College yesterday and drops to 3-3 overall after the losses Monday. Minnesota Duluth improved its season record to 14-4.

Emily Lobdell and Ashley Knight are credited with today's losses.

Those two runs wrapped up the scoring for the game.

Slippery Rock took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning of game two when Haley Sherer stepped in to run for Breanna Tongel and eventually scored on a single from Ashley Samluk.

Duluth answered in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run homerun from Kierra Jeffers and wrapped up their scoring in the top of the seventh with The Rock unable to make a comeback.

Megan Mullen earned the win for Minnesota Duluth in the first game and Cayli Sadler earned the win in game two.

Ashley Knight pitched a complete game for Slippery Rock to record the loss in game two.

Alaynna Beers finished the day with three hits in five at bats and scored one run. Maloney finished with two RBIs to cap the top offensive performances.
