Rock volleyball drops 3-0 decision at Edinboro

The Rock fell 3-0 at Edinboro in PSAC-West competition Tuesday night.

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team (10-21, 5-13) fell in straight sets at Edinboro University (16-16, 7-11) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action Tuesday night.

The Fighting Scots slid by The Rock 25-23 in the first set before a commanding 25-13 win in the second set. Edinboro ended the match by outlasting Slippery Rock 25-23 in the final frame.

Caroline Houston led The Rock's attack with seven kills, followed by Kristy Lake with six kills and Sarah Beals with five kills. Janna Reilly recorded 12 assists and Alexandra Fleagle chipped in nine assists in the loss.

Lauren Rojek tallied nine digs to lead the defensive effort for Slippery Rock, while Kayla Woo and Houston added eight digs apiece.

Tabitha Meeks and Megan Branchick led the Fighting Scots' attack with 12 kills each. Haley Marett recorded a game-high 22 digs.

Slippery Rock returns to PSAC-West action Friday, Nov. 8 at California (Pa.). Game time is set for 7 p.m. The Rock will look to get revenge after falling to the Vulcans earlier this season, 3-1.
