SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team (8-11, 3-3) fell 3-1 to Gannon (10-5, 5-1) in PSAC Western Division play Saturday afternoon at Morrow Field House.
The Golden Knights jumped out to an early lead and took the first set 25-19, before The Rock responded with a hard fought 25-23 victory in the second.
Slippery Rock held a 21-18 lead late in the third set, but a vicious comeback by Gannon propelled the Knights to a 25-23 win. Gannon would eventually win the match with a 25-19 decision in the final set.
Caroline Houston led The Rock with 17 kills and 21 digs.
Kristy Lake tallied nine kills,
Sarah Beals tacked on eight kills and
Kayla Byler chipped in six kills to round out the leading attackers for Slippery Rock.
Kayla Woo recorded 16 digs,
Janna Reilly had 23 assists and
Alexandra Fleagle added 20 assists.
Slippery Rock returns to PSAC action Tuesday, Oct. 8 against Edinboro. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Morrow Field House.
