SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The 15th ranked Slippery Rock University women's soccer team scored its sixth consecutive win in dramatic fashion Friday, beating East Stroudsburg University 2-1 with 2:40 left in the second and final overtime session.

Andrea Felix scored the tying goal for Slippery Rock with 39 seconds left in the first half and set up the game-winner in overtime with a perfect cross to Dara Demich, who flicked in the winner.

The win improves Slippery Rock to 11-2-1 overall and 10-2-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference games, while East Stroudsburg drops to 8-5-2 overall and 7-5-2 in league games.

Friday's game was crucial for both teams in the PSAC standings, as The Rock all but guaranteed themselves a berth in the upcoming league tournament, while East Stroudsburg failed to secure points as it tries to hang on to the eighth and final qualifying spot.

Slippery Rock currently sits second in the league standings, five points back of California (12-1) after the Vulcans defeated West Chester 1-0 Friday. A Millersville tie or loss to Seton Hill Friday night would guarantee The Rock a postseason berth, as would a single point in any of SRU's remaining three games.

Friday's game was controlled by East Stroudsburg early as the Warriors opened the scoring in the 20th minute and held an early advantage.

Momentum shifted late in the opening half when Felix and Caitlin Binder were subbed into the game.

The substitution shifted the field almost immediately and the pair connected for the tying goal with just 39 seconds left when Binder beat her defender down the right wing and crossed the ball into Felix, who scored her PSAC-leading 10th goal of the year into the upper left corner.

The Rock had the advantage for the rest of regulation, but could not find the winning goal. Slippery Rock also managed the only chance in the opening overtime period, but Warrior keeper Brittain Wagner was up to the challenge.

East Stroudsburg threatened in the second overtime with a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, but the shot went high.

The Rock netted the game-winner with just 2:40 left when Cailin Conner split two defenders in the corner and played it through to Felix, who crossed the ball to Demich for her seventh goal of the season.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 18-12 in total shots, 7-5 in shots on goal and 6-4 in corner kicks.

Dana O'Neill earned the win in goal for Slippery Rock after making four saves. Wagner took the loss after recording five saves.

SRU will have little time to rest as regionally ranked West Chester will visit Mihalik-Thompson Stadium Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.

That game will serve as the annual Senior Day and Coins for Cancer game, with The Rock's four seniors being honored in a pregame ceremony. Donations will be accepted for breast cancer research and all players in the game from both teams that have been affected by breast cancer in their families will be honored pregame.
