SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 58-46 win over East Stroudsburg University Friday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover action at Morrow Field House.

The win improved The Rock to 3-9 overall and 2-6 in PSAC games this winter. East Stroudsburg dropped to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in league games.

Friday's win snapped a streak of four consecutive losses to the Warriors and was the first victory for Slippery Rock in the series since the 2005-06 season.

The Rock placed four players in double figures for the third time this season and for the first time in a winning effort. D'Asia Chambers finished with a game-high 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the way. Erica Aiello chipped in 11 points off the bench for her second straight double digit effort and Emilee Vitez and Erinne Cunningham each added 10 points to cap the top scorers.

Slippery Rock finished the game shooting 37.7 percent from the field (20-of-53), 21.1 percent from beyond the 3-point line (4-of-19) and 73.7 percent from the free throw line (14-of-19). The Rock posted a slim rebounding advantage at 38-35 and forced 27 turnovers.

East Stroudsburg was led by an 11-point, six rebound effort from Jessica Martin, who was the only player to record double figures. Ryann Fiascki added nine points and Fayola Moise chipped in eight points

The Warriors connected on 18-of-52 attempts from the floor (34.6 percent), 3-of-19 from long range (15.8 percent) and 7-of-14 from the charity stripe (50 percent).

Friday's game was a back and forth game from the outset with both teams putting together big runs to swing the momentum in their favor.

The Rock opened the game on a 10-1 run over the first 3:23 but went ice cold from there, going scoreless for more than nine minutes as East Stroudsburg took the lead 13-10 with 8:34 to play in the opening half.

Slippery Rock answered with a 7-0 run to regain the lead, 17-13, with six minutes left in the period. East Stroudsburg chipped away at the deficit and took a 24-23 lead with just under two minutes to play before the hosts closed the half on a 5-2 run to lead 28-26 at the break.

The Warriors came out the gates on fire in the second half, scoring the first seven points and opening up a 38-31 lead with 15:22 to play.

Keeping with the theme of the game, Slippery Rock answered with another momentum-shifting run, this time to the tune of 11-0 to regain the lead, 42-38 with 9:11 to play.  After an ESU bucket The Rock continued to apply the pressure and pushed the run out to 18-2 to take a 49-40 lead with 4:30 to play, a deficit the Warriors could never recover from.

The visitors cut it to five points at 49-44 with 1:28 to play but The Rock knocked down their free throws down the stretch to finish it off with a 12 point win, the largest margin of the game for either team.

Slippery Rock will close the PSAC crossover portion of the schedule tomorrow night when Kutztown visits Morrow Field House for a 5:30 p.m. tip. Divisional play opens Jan. 16 at Lock Haven.
