GLENVILLE, W. Va. – Senior pitcher Shaylee Ianno tossed her first no-hitter of the season to help the Slippery Rock University softball team split a pair of games at Glenville State Friday afternoon. The Rock took game one 1-0 before falling 6-0 in game two. Slippery Rock's record now stands at 7-6.

Ianno (5-2) was just one walk away from being perfect in game one. In seven innings, Ianno struck out six Lady Pioneer batters on her way to her fifth win of the season.

Senior outfielder Natalie Atkinson belted an RBI-double in the third inning that scored Ianno, who had reached base via a fielder's choice earlier in the inning, to put The Rock up 1-0. The lone run proved to be more than enough for Ianno who didn't allow a Glenville batter to reach base until a walk in the fifth inning. In addition to the no-hitter, the victory was Ianno's fourth shutout of the season.

Also helping The Rock's offense in game one was junior catcher Katie Saluga and sophomore designated player Kristin Kaminski. Both sluggers finished the game 2-for-3.

Ianno's no-hitter was the second of her career.

However, Slippery Rock was unable to carry over its momentum into game two. SRU managed five hits, but Glenville was able to get to freshman pitcher Ashley Knight (2-4) early en route to its 6-0 win. Junior pitcher Amy Erickson came on in relief of Knight and threw four perfect innings.

Designated player Stephanie Collenette led The Rock in game two with a 2-for-3 performance from the plate. Collenette is now batting .412 on the season. Atkinson, Saluga and sophomore first baseman Breanna Tongel also recorded hits in the loss.

Glenville scored all six of its runs in the first three innings while Slippery Rock left runners on base in five of its seven innings in the defeat.

Slippery Rock will host its home-opener vs. Mansfield 1 p.m. Saturday at the Slippery Rock Softball Complex.
