KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Slippery Rock University softball team ended its four-game losing streak with a pair of wins Thursday, defeating Minnesota-Moorhead, 4-3, and Minnesota-Duluth, 4-0, at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

Slippery Rock improved its overall record to 3-4 on the season. The Rock's win over Moorhead was its second triumph over the Dragons of the season while the victory over Duluth avenged their 1-0 loss from March 12.

Junior third baseman Jenna Geibel led Slippery Rock Thursday by going a combined 4-for-6 with one home run, one run scored and two RBI.

Freshman pitcher Ashley Knight (1-2) picked up her first collegiate win in SRU's victory over Moorhead. Knight scattered four hits and struck out one batter before giving way to junior pitcher Amy Erickson who had a perfect appearance to earn the first save of her career and preserve The Rock's 4-3 win.

Geibel was a flawless 3-for-3 against Moorhead. Also helping out Slippery Rock's offense vs. the Dragons were sophomores Emily Lobdell and Breanna Tongel as well as senior Kirsten Brant. All three batters had hits with Lobdell's being a triple.

Game two's 4-0 shutout of Minnesota-Duluth saw a pair of Rock home runs. Geibel, who was 1-for-3 in the game with two RBI, belted her second home run of the year while Brant also took a Duluth pitcher deep for her 20th career home run.

Senior pitcher Shaylee Ianno (2-2) tossed a one-hitter and fanned four batters to pick up the win. At the plate, Ianno enjoyed a 2-for-3 day and scored one run to help ensure the Slippery Rock win.

Slippery Rock will look to get its record above the .500 mark Friday with wins over Tiffin and Northwood. First pitches are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
