SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team will open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action with a 5:30 p.m. tip at Clarion University Saturday.

The Records: Slippery Rock brings a 1-4 record into the game after winning the season opener at home over Urbana, 89-87, before dropping the next four road games, including the PSAC crossover openers last weekend to Bloomsburg and Mansfield.
Clarion enters the game with a 2-4 overall record and is riding a three-game losing streak that included losses in the PSAC crossovers against Millersville and Shippensburg.
Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is looking to snap a four-game losing streak and open the division portion of the schedule on the right foot. The Rock is averaging 66.4 points per game and allowing 80.2 points per game.
Slippery Rock has two players averaging double digit scoring efforts, led by
D'Asia Chambers' per game averages of 13.6 points and 6.0 rebounds.
Alexas Brown is averaging 12 points per game and has 24 assists.
Erinne Cunningham has added 9.4 points per game and
Jazmyne Frost is scoring 8.4 points per game and pulling down a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game.

Scouting the Golden Eagles: Clarion has averaged 64.3 points per game and is allowing 72.8 points per game. The Golden Eagles are shooting 42.2 percent from the field, 31.2 percent from long range and 65.0 percent from the free throw line. They hold opponents to 41.0 percent from the field, 31.0 percent from 3-point land and 67.8 percent from the free throw line.
Clarion has just one player averaging double figures in Hannah Heeter, who leads the team with per game averages of 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. Raven Jones adds 9.7 points per game and leads the team with 17 assists. Anna Deibert chips in 8.7 points per game and Mariah Gador adds 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game to cap the top players.
Head Coaches: Tanya Longo is in her third season as the head coach at Slippery Rock. Longo has taken on a rebuilding project with the program and has posted a record of 10-47 in her tenure at SRU. Longo came to Slippery Rock after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Southern Illinois.
Margaret Parsons is in her 24th season as the head coach at Clarion. She is a member of the PA Sports Hall of Fame – Western Chapter and is a four-time PSAC-West Coach of the Year. She is the winningest coach in Clarion history with a record of 330-309. Parsons is a 1971 Slippery Rock graduate and played two seasons here at The Rock. Parsons is assisted by former SRU player and head coach and SRU Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Laurel Heilman.

Clarion was led by a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds from Hannah Heeter, while Raven Jones led all scorers in the game with 23 points. Lauren Savulchak added 11 points and no other player on the team had more than three points.
Next Up: Slippery Rock will rest during finals week and return to action with a pair of PSAC crossover games at Morrow Field House Dec. 18-19. The Rock welcomes West Chester and Cheyney for back-to-back 5:30 p.m. games. Slippery Rock will close the 2012 calendar year with a Dec. 30 home game against Lourdes at 1 p.m.
