Rock upends Lock Haven, 3-0

Slippery Rock closed the regular season with a convincing 3-0 win at Lock Haven Saturday.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team closed the regular season with a convincing 3-0 win at Lock Haven University Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

The win gives Slippery Rock its 10th of the year and increases the streak of seasons with at least 10 wins to 17 consecutive years, the eighth-best mark in Division II history.

SRU finishes the regular season with an overall record of 10-5-2 and a PSAC mark of 7-5-2. The Rock has qualified for the PSAC playoffs as the No. 7 seed and will travel to No. 2 seed West Chester Tuesday for the opening round. Lock Haven finishes its year with an overall record of 6-7-4 and a PSAC mark of 3-7-4.

Slippery Rock was dominant in Saturday's win, allowing just two total shots and one shot on target. The Rock posted advantages of 9-2 in total shots, 5-1 in shots on goal and 3-0 in corner kicks.

Dana O'Neill earned the shutout in goal with one save, while her counterpart, Dana Wozniak took the loss after making two saves.

Cailin Conner opened the game's scoring in the 13th minute when she headed in a crossing pass from Leslie Henny to make it 1-0. That tally would stand as the only of the first half with SRU posted a 4-1 advantage in shots in the period.

Nicole Krueger made it 2-0 in the 78th minute when she scored into the lower left corner of the net on a penalty kick.

Stephanie Buckenheimer closed the scoring in the 84th minute with a free kick laser from 25 yards out.

Slippery Rock will play in the opening round of the PSAC playoffs Tuesday. West Chester was upset Tuesday by Millersville to give California the regular season title and No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Slippery Rock is the No. 7 and will play at No. 2 West Chester in the first round Tuesday.
