Rock women host Bloomsburg Wednesday

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will host Bloomsburg Wednesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at Egli Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock enters the game with a 6-3 overall record and a 3-3 PSAC mark. The Rock is coming off a pair of losses last weekend, falling in double overtime to California Friday and losing to Shippensburg Saturday.

Slippery Rock is led by Lucy Hannon with five goals and three assists, while Shelby Ward has three goals and Stephanie Buckenheimer has two goals and two assists. Kara Mullins has two goals and one assist and Caitlin Binder had four assists to cap the leading scorers. SRU is outscoring opponents 17-9 and outshooting the opposition by a 105-84 margin. The Rock has allowed just 36 shots on goal.

Dana O'Neill has played every minute in goal for SRU and is 6-3 with five shutouts. She has allowed nine goals for a 0.98 goals against average and has made 26 saves for a .743 save percentage.

Scouting the Huskies: Bloomsburg enters the game with a 4-5 overall record and a 2-4 PSAC mark. The Huskies are coming off a split last weekend, defeating Clarion Friday and falling to Indiana Saturday.

Bloomsburg is being outscored 12-10 and outshot 114-101. Tara Huber leads the team with five goals and one assist. Brooke Mohney and Jessy Shober each have two goals and Taylor Gerstenfield has one goal to cap the scorers. Four other players have recorded one assist to account for all the team's points.

Danielle Fiorelli has started all nine games for Bloomsburg and is 4-5 with four shutouts. She has allowed 12 goals for a 1.45 GAA and has made 41 saves for a .774 save percentage.

Head Coaches: Noreen Herlihy is in her 18th season at the helm of the Slippery Rock program. She has led the team to 16 consecutive winning seasons with 10 or more wins and owns a career record of 217-100-24. The 16 consecutive winning seasons rank eighth all-time in Division II history. Herlihy is a 1992 graduate of Mercyhurst College with a bachelor's degree in sports medicine. She also owns a master's degree in sports administration from Slippery Rock.

Stephanie Anderson is in her first season as the head coach at Bloomsburg. Before her time with the Huskies, she served as an assistant coach at Bucknell for one season. She also spent time as the assistant at her alma mater, Nebraska Wesleyan, and the graduate assistant at Drury University.

Series: Slippery Rock holds a 10-9-1 edge in the series, including a 2-0 win last season in Slippery Rock.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 16-3 in total shots, 12-1 in shots on goal and 5-3 in corner kicks.

Lisa Rodgers earned the shutout in goal for SRU with one save. Frances Nicoletti took the loss, allowing two goals and recording 10 saves.
