SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University women's soccer coach Noreen Herlihy recorded her 200th-career win Friday as The Rock handed Bloomsburg a 2-0 defeat in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action at Egli Field.

"I honestly had no idea," said Herlihy following the game. "The most important thing today was the players and their performance. We had an all-around outstanding effort from them today."

Lucy Hannon scored the game's opening goal off an assist  from Stephanie Buckenheimer in the 31st minute and Buckenheimer tallied her team-leading sixth goal with just under 10 minutes to play to seal the win.

Slippery Rock (5-3-2, 3-2-2 PSAC) finished the game with advantages of 16-3 in total shots, 12-1 in shots on goal and 5-3 in corner kicks. Bloomsburg (3-4-0, 3-3-0 PSAC) and The Rock were each whistled for nine fouls in the match.

Lisa Rodgers earned the shutout in goal for SRU, recording one save. Frances Nicoletti took the loss for the Huskies after allowing two goals and recording 10 saves.

Slippery Rock controlled possession from the opening kickoff but could not reward itself until Hannon found the back of the net at the 30:49 mark. Buckenheimer touched the ball back to her in the center of the field and she found the upper left corner of the net from 25 yards out.

The Rock took a 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission after posting advantages of 8-2 in total shots, 7-1 in shots on goal and 3-1 in corner kicks.

The second half played out much like the first, with Buckenheimer sealing the win at the 80:10 mark after heading a long crossing pass from Shelby Ward over the keeper into the center of the goal.

Friday's game marked the first home match for Slippery Rock since Sept. 10 after the team played five consecutive road games. It also marked the first game played on the grass at Jim Egli field this season, and the first game played on the field since Egli passed away this summer.

The Rock will have little time to rest as East Stroudsburg visits Egli Field for a 1 p.m. PSAC match tomorrow, Oct.. 1.
