CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The fourth-ranked California University (Pa.) women's soccer team got a goal in the 83rd minute to lead the Vulcans to a 1-0 win over Slippery Rock in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match Friday afternoon.
California's (3-0, 1-0 PSAC) Breanna Robinson scored the lone goal of the game off an assist from Chelsea Norbuts at the 82:30 mark to seal the win.
The Rock (2-2-1, 1-1-1 PSAC) got a stellar effort from starting goalkeeper
Lisa Rodgers, who finished the game with a season-high nine saves.
The Vulcans finished the game with advantages of 23-9 in total shots, 10-6 in shots on goal and 8-2 in corner kicks.
Shelby Ward paced the Slippery Rock offense with five total shots, including four shots on goal, while
Stephanie Buckenheimer added two shots on goal.
Paula Jackson earned the win in goal for California with six saves.
The Rock will look to bounce back tomorrow when they travel to Shippensburg for a 4 p.m. PSAC match.
