SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa – Sophomore guard
Alex Beatty came off the bench to bury five 3-point shots and score a game-high 16 points Wednesday night, but the effort went for naught as visiting Lock Haven University beat Slippery Rock, 59-52, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division women's basketball action in Morrow Field House.

Danielle Smith scored 13 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
The loss dropped The Rock's season records to 3-18 overall and 1-8 in PSAC-West action.
Kristen Kudrick scored a team-high 13 points for Lock Haven (10-9, 3-5 PSAC-W). In the process, she became the 12th player in LHU history to surpass the 1,000-point mark in career scoring.
SRU will seek to end a two-game losing skid Saturday when it hosts Indiana (Pa.) in a 1 p.m. game that will include a “Pink Zone” event to promote breast cancer awareness. Former Rock standout Beth Dansberger Snyder will also be honored during pregame and halftime ceremonies.
Following Saturday's game, The Rock embarks on a three-game road trip to California (Pa.), Mercyhurst and Gannon.
The Rock finished Wednesday's game with a 35% (18-52) efficiency on its field goal attempts that included a 39% (7-18) showing from 3-point range. The Green and White shot 56% (9-16) from the foul line.
Lock Haven shot 39% (24-62) from the field, 33% (4-12) from 3-point range and 54% (7-13) from the foul line.
The Bald Eagles held a commanding 52-29 rebounding advantage but committed more turnovers, 20-16. SRU was unable to take advantage of that edge, though, as Lock Haven outscored the hosts by a 15-12 margin in points off turnovers. The guests also held an 18-16 edge in scoring “in the paint.”
Behind Beatty's lead, The Rock outscored Lock Haven by a 20-15 margin “off the bench.”
The Rock scored the first two points of the game but, after they tied the score at 4-4, played catch-up for most of the first half.
Lock Haven broke the 4-4 deadlock with a 10-3 run to take a 14-7 lead with 12:30 left before halftime. Two and a half minutes later, at the midway mark of the first half, the Bald Eagles held an 18-12 advantage.
SRU then went on a 15-6 run to take a 28-24 lead with 1:15 left before intermission and held a 28-26 edge heading into the second half of action.
Key to The Rock rally were a trio of 3-point shots buried by Beatty in the final 10 minutes. Smith added eight points and four rebounds and Lee handed out four assists in the opening 20 minutes.
The Rock finished the first half with a respectable 41% (11-27) efficiency on its field goal attempts with a 4-of-10 showing from 3-point range behind Beatty's 3-for-3 showing. The hosts made two of four free throws.
Lock Haven shot 33% (10-13) from the field in the first half with a 1-for-6 (17%) showing from 3-point range and sank five of eight (63%) free throws.
The Bald Eagles held a 22-17 rebounding advantage at the intermission. Each team had eight turnovers with The Rock holding a slim 7-5 advantage in points off turnovers.
The Rock also outscored their guests by a 12-6 margin “in the paint” in the first half and had an 11-8 edge in scoring “off the bench” behind Beatty's nine tallies. Lock Haven had a 5-0 advantage in second-chance points.
SRU did not score a point in the first 4:15 of the second half and, as a result, found itself down by a 37-28 margin with 15 minutes left to play in the game.
Undaunted, The Rock responded with a string of eight unanswered points in the next 90 seconds to trim the deficit to one point, 37-36.
Lock Haven came right back with a 17-7 run in the next eight and a half minutes to take a nine-point, 53-44, lead with five minutes remaining.
SRU trimmed the deficit to four points, 56-52, with 1:45 left but could not complete the comeback.
