Hindley headlines three Rock NSCAA All-Region selections

Alison Hindley was named to first team All-Region honors when the NSCAA/Performance Subaru All-Atlantic Region team was announced Friday. Emer Flatley and Danielle Turner were each named to second team honors.

Alison Hindley
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three members of the 22nd-ranked Slippery Rock University women's soccer team were named to All-Atlantic Region honors Friday in a release from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Performance Subaru.

Alison Hindley headlined The Rock's selections by earning first team honors at midfielder. She was joined on the All-Region squad by Emer Flatley as a second team defender and Danielle Turner as a second team forward.

Hindley has now been named to three consecutive NSCAA All-Region teams and has two first team selections to her name. By way of being named to the first team, she will now advance to the All-America ballot.

A senior from Cheshire, England, Hindley finished her collegiate career as one of the most decorated players in SRU women's soccer history. A forward for her first three seasons, Hindley moved back to midfield this season and excelled as the team's captain, scoring three goals and handing out five assists.
Emer Flatley

She finishes her career with 34 goals and 10 assists for 78 points. Her 34 goals and 78 points both rank fourth on the all-time ledger at SRU. Hindley is a three-time All-Region performer in voting from both the NSCAA and Daktronics. She is also a three-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honoree.

Flatley, a sophomore from Galway, Ireland, earns her first All-Region honor. She appeared in 20 games with 17 starts this season and helped to anchor a defense that allowed just 0.82 goals per game. Earlier this fall, she was named to second team All-PSAC honors.

Turner, a freshman from Cheshire, England, continues to add to her impressive freshman resume. She finished the season ranked third on the team in scoring with five goals and six assists for 16 points.

Danielle Turner
A nominee for PSAC Freshman of the Year, Turner scored three game-winning goals and led the team in shots with 64. She joined Hindley and Flatley on the All-PSAC second team that was announced earlier this fall.

The Rock finished the 2010 season ranked third in the Atlantic Region with an overall record of 14-3-5, including a school-record unbeaten steak over the team's last 15 games. During that stretch, which will continue into the start of next season, SRU posted a record of 10-0-5, including ties against No. 4 West Chester and No. 10 California (Pa.) on the road.
