MILLERSVILLE, Pa.
– The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team outshot Millersville 14-2 in the second half and ran away with a 3-0 win in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover game Saturday afternoon.

After a slow start that saw The Rock take five shots to Millersville's one in a scoreless first half, Slippery Rock exploded offensively in the second half to run away with the win.

The Rock got on the board first in the 60th minute when Alison Hindley beat Millersville keeper Taylor Suskie into the lower left corner of the net off a through ball from Shelby Layman.

Hindley added a second goal in the 66th minute when she collected a rebound on a penalty kick attempt and scored the unassisted goal.

Hindley closed her day by assisting on the final goal of the game when Ashley Paganie put one over Suskie in the 70th minute.

Alli Bird made her first collegiate start Saturday and earned both her first collegiate win and shutout after recording one save. Suskie took the loss after recording six saves and allowing three goals.

The Rock finished the game with advantages of 19-3 in total shots and 9-1 in shots on goal. Corner kicks were even at three for each team.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 5-3-1 overall on the season. Millersville drops to 2-8-0.

The Rock is back in action Wednesday when Lock Haven travels to Egli Field for a PSAC-West matchup. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
