Julie Molloy added 11 as the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team fell by a 65-55 score Sunday afternoon at Tiffin University.
The Rock was down 32-28 at the half and never led in the second half.
SRU did not go down without a fight, though, as senior guard
Nikki Presto tied the game at 55 with 3:27 left. Tiffin quickly regained the lead, though, when Mandy Jaeb scored unanswered points to give the Dragons a 61-55 lead with 48 seconds left in the game.
Jaeb finished with a game-high 24 points and six rebounds for Tiffin (1-0).
Presto finished with seven points and a team-high eight rebounds for SRU, while freshmen
Amanda Mikatavage and
Alex Beatty recorded eight and seven points, respectively, in their first collegiate games.
SRU shot 36.5% (19 of 52) from the field, 23% (5 of 22) from 3-point range and 60% (12 of 20) from the foul line.
Tiffin hit 35% of its field goal attempts, 27% of its free throws and 75% of its free throws and had a 45-35 advantage in rebounds. Both teams handled the ball pretty well as The Rock had 14 turnovers and Tiffin 13.
The Rock returns to action Wednesday when it takes on Seton Hill in a 7 p.m. non-conference game in Morrow Field House.
