LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Three members of the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team have been selected to second team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Confence-Western Division honors in voting by the league's head coaches. The Rock is represented by
Alison Hindley,
Melisa Sharek and
Alexis Chiani on the All-PSAC team.
Hindley earns her second consecutive second team honor at forward after ranking second on the team in scoring this season with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. She also netted two-game winning goals. Hindley ranks fourth in career scoring at Slippery Rock with 67 points. She also ranks fourth in career goals with 31.
Chiani earns her second All-League honor after being named to first team honors in 2007 and Sharek earns her first career All-League honor. The senior defenders helped anchor a Rock defense that allowed just 15 goals in 18 games for a 0.80 goals against average. The Rock outscored opponents 30-15 on the season and held advantages of 306-166 in total shots and 158-77 in shots on goal.
The Rock capped its 2009 season with a 10-5-3 overall record, marking the 14th consecutive winning season for the program under head coach
Noreen Herlihy.
Hindley, Sharek and Chiani are all nominated for various All-Region honors in the Atlantic Region. Regional honors will be announced in the coming weeks.
