SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Sophomore forward
Alison Hindley scored her sixth goal of the season Saturday afternoon but it wasn't enough to lead the 13th-ranked Rock to victory.
The Green and White and visiting Edinboro battled for 110 minutes before settling for a 1-1 double-overtime stalemate in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
The tie gives SRU a 2-0-1 overall record and a 1-0-1 PSAC-West mark heading into Tuesday's crucial match with archrival Indiana U. of Pa. Action is set to start at 4 p.m. at Thompson Stadium.
The Rock and Edinboro battled to a scoreless deadlock in the opening 45 minutes of action before Hindley, off an assist from
Ashley Paganie, put SRU on top 1-0 in the 66th minute of action.
Edinboro got the equalizer in the 75th minute of action.
Both teams benefitted from exceptional performances by their goalies. SRU's
Sarah Lacy recorded 10 saves while Edinboro's Lisa Bartolwicz rejected eight shots.
The Rock outshot the Fighting Scots by a 21-18 margin.
