Hindley, Paganie lead #12 Rock past Mansfield, 5-0

Alison Hindley and Ashley Paganie each scored a pair of goals in Saturday's PSAC crossover win

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. --
The 12th-ranked Rock dominated the action as they blanked the visiting Mansfield Mounties, 5- 0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference “crossover” matchup at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

The win improves the Green and White overall record to 5-1-1.
 
Sophomores Alison Hindley and Ashley Paganie led The Rock offense as each player scored two goals. Paganie fired six shots in the contest, while Hindley added four.
 
Paganie got the ball rolling with an unassisted goal off a direct kick in the 16th minute of action. Her second goal came with the help of freshman Alyssa Barrett.
 
Sophomore Rachel Knapp followed up with a goal in the 22nd minute of play, off an assist from sophomore Alexis Chiani.
 
Hindley's goals came in the 31st and 52nd minutes of play. Knapp assisted on the first goal. Freshman Shelby Layman crossed the ball in front of the net, where Hindley was able to battle with Mansfield's goalie for the fifth and final goal of the contest.
 
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Lacy protected the net in the first 45 minutes of play for The Rock, but saw little action as she was not called upon to make a save. Juniior Lauren McManus finished the contest with two saves.
 
Samantha DeLiere was in goal for the Mounties in thne first half of action and stopped three Rock shots. Kylee Jones recorded three saves in the final 45 minutes.

The Rock return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday, when it will host Lock Haven in a PSAC-Western Division game.
