KellyAnn Staudinger scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds and sophomore post
Haley Gaidosh added 12 points and nine rebounds Wednesday to lead The Rock effort in a 65-48 loss at Clarion.
The setback dropped The Rock's overall record to 7-14 and gave the Green and White a 1-5 record at the conclusion of the first round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division schedule.
Clarion improved its overall record to 14-6 and ended the first round of division play with a 4-2 mark, good for a three-way tie for second place in the seven-team division.
The hosts outscored SRU by a 29-11 margin in the final 14 minutes of the first half to take a 38-19 lead into intermission and never led by less than 17 points in the final 20 minutes. The largest Golden Eagles lead was a 25-point, 48-23, advantage with 14 minutes left to play.
The Rock returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m., when it will host Lock Haven in a PSAC-West game in Morrow Field House.
In addition to the game, The Rock will host a "Think Pink" breast cancer awareness event and a free multiple-sport clinic for girls between the ages of 5-12. The clinic starts at 9 a.m.
