Rock falls, 70-60, at Fairmont State

Nikki Presto scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead The Rock (1-3) attack while Sasha Sales and Jess Schake added 12 points each

FAIRMONT, W. Va. -- Junior point guard Nikki Presto had team-hight totals of 13 points and seven rebounds Tuesday night in The Rock's 70-60 non-conference loss at Fairmont State.

The loss dropped SRU's season record to 1-3 as the Green and White prepare for this week's Holiday Inn Express Tournament in Ashland, Ohio.

Fairmont State improved its season record to 2-2.

Presto (pictured above) was one of three Rock players to finish with double-digit scoring totals. Senior post player Sasha Sales and junior post player Jess Schake each chipped in 12 points to the attack.

The Rock shot 36% (9 of 25) from the field in the first half of action before warming up to a 56.5% (13 of 23) efficiency in the final 20 minutes to finish with a 45.8% reading.

The Green and White were 2 of 9 (22.2%) from 3-point range and 60.9% (14 of 23) from the foul line.

Fairmont State outrebounded SRU by a 33-30 margin and was led in scoring by Ashley Vavrek's game-high 25 points.

The Rock will take on Lake Erie (Ohio) College at 1 p.m. Saturday in opening-round action of the Ashland tournament before meeting either Ashland or Urbana (Ohio) in the consolation or championship game Sunday.

Following the Ashland tournament, The Rock returns home to host Salem International (W. Va.) in a 7 p.m. game Dec. 4 in Morrow Field House.
