SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Senior post player Sasha Sales (pictured above) scored a game-high 23 points Thursday night to lead The Rock to its first victory of the season, a 76-57 triumph over visiting Tiffin in non-conference action at Morrow Field House.

The win came in the Green and White's home opener and on the heels of a pair of losses last weekend in Kutztown to send SRU into next Tuesday's road game at Fairmont State (W. Va.) with a 1-2 record.

Tiffin is also 1-2 on the season.

Sales, in addition to her points, grabbed eight rebounds in Thursday night's game. She was one of three Rock players to finish with double-digit scoring totals.

Junior point guard Nikki Presto chipped in 18 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots, while junior wing player Julie Molloy added 16 points, a team-high 10 rebounds and six assists.

Tiffin scored the first basket of the game, then never led again as The Rock went on a 19-6 run to take a 19-8 lead with 12:30 left in the first half.

The visitors responded with a 21-10 run to trim the margin to two points, 29-27, with five minutes left in the opening stanza and trailed by the same two-point margin with just over two minutes left before intermission.

SRU scored five of the last seven first-half points to take a 43-38 lead into halftime and never led by less than five points in the final 20 minutes of action.

The Rock shot 49.2% (30 of 61) from the floor, 62.5% (5 of 8) from 3-point range and 64.7% (11 of 17) from the foul line. The hosts also enjoyed a 46-39 advantage in rebounds.

Tiffin finished the game with a 32% (24 of 75) shooting efficiency that included a 20.7% (6 of 29) effort from beyond the arc. The Dragons made 75% (3 of 4) of their free throws.
