Rock drops 2-1 overtime decision at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The Rock suffered it second straight loss Sunday morning when hosting East Stroudsburg scored a goal in overtime to record a 2-1 win in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" action.

The loss dropped SRU's overall record to 7-3-1 heading into Tuesday's 7 p.m. PSAC-Western Division game vs. Clarion at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

East Stroudsburg improved its record to 5-4-2.

The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the final minutes of the first half of regulation play before SRU got its only goal to knot the score at 1-1 and ultimately send the game in overtime.

Freshman Shelby Layman (pictured above) scored her second goal of the season in the 77th minute off an assist from senior Shelly Regner, who picked up her third assist of the season.

East Stroudsburg won the game with a goal two and a half minutes into the first overtime period.

The Rock was outshot by a 15-13 margin; senior goalie Sarah Lacy was credited with four saves.
