SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Rock dropped a 5-1 decision to visiting Gannon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action Saturday afternoon at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
The loss drops SRU (11-5-1 overall, 7-4-1) to third place in the division standings. With the win, Gannon (10-5-1, 8-3-1) gained sole possession of second place in the conference.
Sophomore forward Alison Hindley scored the Green and White's lone goal on a pass from freshman forward Chelsea Sneed with five minutes left in the game. Hindley's goal was her team-best 15th of the season.
Rock senior goalie Sarah Lacy recorded one save in the first half before she was replaced by junior Lauren McManus, who also had one save.
Gannon outshot The Rock by a 17-7 margin. Leading the effort for the Golden Knights was freshman Amanda Sharbaugh, who scored a hat trick in the competition. Courtney Rowan assisted on two of Sharbaugh's goals while tallying one herself and Heather Pattereson marked one goal and one assist.
The Rock returns to action at 3 p.m. Wednesday, when it will travel to Lock Haven in a PSAC-West game.
