INDIANA, Pa. -- Alyssa Barrett and
Ashley Paganie each scored a goal and had an assist Saturday afternoon to lead The Rock to a 3-1 win over hosting Indiana (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.
The win improved SRU's overall record to 11-3-1 and its PSAC-West mark to 7-2-1, which is good for a tie for first place in the division standings.
Indiana, now 11-5 overall and 7-3 in division action, dropped into sole possession of third place.
Barrett scored the first goal of the game off an assist from
Rachel Knapp in the 11th minute of action.
Paganie (pictured above) then scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 44th minute off an assist from Barrett.
Indiana trimmed the margin to 2-1 before
Whitney Warmus buried a shot in the back of the net off an assist from Paganie to account for the final tally.
The Rock outshot the hosts by a 21-16 margin. Senior goalie
Sarah Lacy recorded nine saves for SRU, while Indiana netminder Kelly Brennan chalked up 12 saves.
The Rock returns to action at 4 p.m. Tuesday, when it will host Mercyhurst in a PSAC-West game on James W. Egli Soccer Field.
