Rock blanks Edinboro 2-0 to move into tie for 2nd in PSAC-West

Whitney Warmus and Linda Schirmeister scored goals for SRU (10-3-1, 6-2-1) while Sarah Lacy recorded four saves

EDINBORO, Pa. -- Midfielders Whitney Warmus and Linda Schirmeister each scored a goal Tuesday night to lift The Rock to a 2-0 win over hosting Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.

The win improved SRU's overall record to 10-3-1 and its PSAC-West mark to 6-2-1. The Rock is tied with Gannon for second place in the division with 19 points, two points behind division-leading Indiana (Pa.).

The Rock travels to Indiana for a crucial division duel at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Warmus (pictured above) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 79th minute off an assist from Courtney Hoover.

Two minutes later, Schirmeister converted a pass from Chelsea Sneed into an insurance tally.

Rock goalie Sarah Lacy recorded four saves; Edinboro held an 11-10 edge in total shots.
