Rock records split vs. Edinboro, Penn State-Behrend

SRU (2-3) swamped Penn State-Behrend 102-19 and fell to Edinboro 73-47

EDINBORO, Pa. -- The Rock recorded a split in Saturday's three-team competition at Edinboro to move its season record to 2-3.

SRU swamped Penn State-Behrend by a 102-19 score but fell to Edinboro by a 73-47 record.

The Rock returns to action next Saturday, Jan. 19, when it will take on California U. of Pa. and Lock Haven in the latter's pool.

Headlining The Rock effort were first-place finishes by Heather Walbright in the 500-yard freestyle (5:33.91), Jessica Student in the 100 butterfly (1:04.52) and Betsy Wilson in the 200 individual medley (2:30.98).

The Rock's 200 freestyle relay team of Lauren Hervatin, Sarah Sander, Raquel Woerner and Walbright won the final event of the meet with a time of 1:46.93.

Walbright also finished second in both the 100 freestyle (56.24) and 200 freestyle (2:02.23), while Student was third in the 200 butterfly (2:31.05).

Beth Choike was second in the 200 backstroke (2:23.30) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:06.46).

Hervatin finished second behind Walbright in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:41.70.

Caitlin Henney placed third in both the in the 100-yard breaststroke (personal best 1:16.14) and 200 breaststroke (2:48.18) and Jessica Kieler placed third (1:11.06) in the 100 butterfly event won by Student.

The Rock's 200 medley relay team (2:00.27) of Kieler, Ashley Goodwill, Student and Woerner placed third behind two Edinboro squads with a time of 2:00.27 in the meet's opening event.
