MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Rock dropped its second Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" game in as many days Sunday as hosting Millersville handed SRU a 72-45 setback.
Haley Gaidosh and KellyAnn Staudinger each scored eight points for The Rock, which now owns a 3-3 record this winter, while Renee Watson added six and Julie Molloy had five points.
Staudinger also shared team-high rebounding honors with four. Nikki Presto tied with Staudinger for the team lead with four and also had team-best totals of four steals and three assists.
The Rock held only two leads (2-0 and 4-2) and the score was tied at 4-4 before the Marauders took control of the proceedings. The hosts put together a 24-11 run in the span of 14 minutes and enjoyed a 13-point, 28-15, lead with 3:30 left in the first half before SRU closed the margin to nine, 32-23, at halftime.
The Marauders came out of the locker room red-hot as it opened the second half with a 21-6 run and outscored SRU by a 40-22 in the final 20 minutes.
The shooting statistics tell the story for The Rock; SRU committed 29 turnovers, shot 31.8% (14 of 44) from the field and failed to make a 3-point shot in eight attempts. The Green and White was 5-of-21 (23.8%) from the floor in the final half.
The Rock will look to end its losing skid and avenge a season-opening 61-57 loss when it hosts Pitt-Johnstown in a 6 p.m. game Friday in Morrow Field House.
