WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Hosting West Chester outscored The Rock by a 22-5 margin in the first six and a half minutes of action Saturday afternoon en route to a 71-53 win in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" action.

The Rock responded with a run of their own, a 12-2 spurt, to trim the margin to seven points (24-17) with 4:30 left in the first half, but that would be the extent of an SRU comeback.

West Chester, which won for the fifth time in as many games this winter, led by 12 points (34-22) at halftime and never led by less than nine points in the final 20 minutes.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak for SRU (3-2), which will face another unbeaten team when it visits Millersville (4-0) for a 1 p.m. "crossover" game Sunday.

Haley Gaidosh scored a team-high 10 points and had four rebounds Saturday for SRU, while Sandra Busser and Amanda Nero each added eight points and three steals. KellyAnn Staudinger had a team-best five rebounds and Julie Molloy grabbed four.

After meeting Millersville on Sunday, The Rock will turn its attention to Friday's home date with Pitt-Johnstown (6 p.m. tipoff).
